SUNSET AT MONTEREY BAY
2008 Sunset Magazine Idea House at Monterra
Breaking ground on August 2nd,
the Idea House is a warmly contemporary project that will present a multitude
of architectural, landscape and decorating ideas. Most importantly, these ideas have been formulated to create a
comfortable, functional home that responsibly incorporates many ec0-friendly
features in response to the need for energy efficiency, function and
sustainability whenever possible. In collaboration with Sunset Magazine, Monterra is producing a unique
home that recalls familiar Central Coast architectural themes such as Monterey
courtyards, regional architectural building forms, gardens and magnificent
views in a refreshing and beautiful property.
The 6,800 square foot 5 bedroom
residence is comprised of 3 connected “farm buildings” reminiscent of Monterey
County structures that are so much a part of our local economy and
history. Courtyards enclosed with native stone provide a
variety of outdoor spaces that will accommodate informal gatherings, large
events and the solitary Sunday afternoon snooze in the shade of a glorious
native oak.

The design team is comprised
of professionals who have each brought their energy and creativity to making
this project truly unique. Some of
